Wired for Anxiety
Wired for what If’s Anxiety Some of us are wired for what ifs? We are constantly looking to see if we can get our basic needs met. We fear we won’t make that Bill this month. We get worked up that we won’t have enough food and clothing necessary for our children. We get anxious about tomorrow, concerned about today’s obligations. Anxiety cripples us. Our bodies go into fight or flight and as far as we can there is no mountain lion or real threat. Then Jesus says look at the birds. I be like, “What Look at the birds?” I got bills to pay, a kid to feed, I ain’t got time to look at a bird. Then Jesus says to us they aren’t fretting or storing away food. Look they are engaging in being and existing. Jesus says, “I feed them. Why are you fearful?” And my response is. Jesus says, “I got you, just like I got the bird.” Then we can lay down and just be mindful of the day like that bird because He truly has got this. No amount of worry will change our current state. Just be present in today. Linda Goad LPC, NCC, ALPS
