Rearview mirror; Lot’s wife.

Looking back on what was; blocks our way forward. The desire to stay where we are environmentally risks losing our souls to a world of chaos and sin.

Lots’ wife stared back at a life God was moving her away from. She could not imagine a life without the thrills and excitement of Sodom. Part of her felt grief for the change. Part of her felt positive about being spared her life. Part of her longed to go back and remain where she was. Well isn’t that all of us?

Many things appeal to my flesh, not all things are beneficial to my flesh. Dying to my desires of pleasure and sin, means functioning from an eternal perspective versus an earthly perspective. God wants us to enjoy music, song, dance and food. God doesn’t want us to destroy our bodies with pleasures.

As we move forward towards God, the thought of going back to a life of thrills and pleasures puts us at risk of stumbling backwards.

Reflection on past choices and lifestyles proves to be some helpful; a longing to be in a lifestyle that does us harm moves us backwards.

Focus on the present and God’s path for your daily life forward. Lot’s wife looked back at what was, not what is.
