Attachment to God, the Rich Young Man

What is your attachment to God? Jesus speaks to the Rich Young Man

The young man asks God, “What must I do to inherit eternal life?” Jesus shares the commandments and the young man says he kept all these. Jesus looks at him and loved him. Jesus responds, “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come follow me.” Book of Mark

God’s desire is for a close bond with the young man. Notice the part where it says Jesus loved him. On the surface, the rich man is “getting it right” for God. Notice following all the rules wasn’t the block or barrier to God, it was money. God looked into his heart and saw what we can’t see a roadblock to their relationship.

Daily we face a type of block to our closeness with Him. He reaches with love and longs for the most safest securest bond we will ever experience this side of the Heavens.

Christ’s desire to be close to the rich young man is #1. The young mans #1 isn’t God. His #1 is in money.

God looks lovingly at you and me and says, “Let it go and come close to Me.” Lean in to Me not self and not materials.
